Weeds

Weeds

Mixed Media, Poem, Drawing: acrylic paint, gel pens, marker, metal brad, distress stains, ribbons, distress inks, tag (c) JACK”E” circa 2006-2008.

POEM: “Nurture the seeds you plant, lest they sprout weeds.”

This piece began as the flowering “weed” plant. It reminds me of some of those purple flowers you occasionally find on your lawn. I drew it with micron pens. I colored it using gel pens. I cut the flower out and attached it to a page in my art journal. I painted the background with acrylic paint. I stained the ribbons with distress stain after I wrote the poem and attached it to the a tag. I stained the tag with distress inks. After I designed the tag, I embellished it with the green and brown ribbon and silver leaf tag.

I love this piece because I played a little with a few different techniques and it was one of my first art journal pages. I loved it so much I had to make a print of it. This may have also been one of the first hybrids pieces I created where my words and art mingled. This piece is available in my shop.
