Of Etchings & Verses

From the pages of my Sk’etchbook to the cover of a personalized journal. For the most part I am happy with the finished product but there was definitely a learning curve. For one thing I probably should have scanned my piece rather than took a photo?! I also seemed to have some trouble with extending the image to the full length of the covers but if I did the photo quality would have been less than ideal. I think maybe I would have gone with a glossy cover rather than the matte? In my excitement I didn’t think of even ordering any kind of samples. Ooops!

On the spine of my new journal I have “Of Etchings & Verses”. I wanted my personalized journal to house both verses and drawings. I dubbed it Etchings… for two reasons. The most obvious reason is that the front cover reads: “ETCH”. The second reason is that it is reminiscent of when my mother called my drawings–“Etchings”.

The journal has one hundred pages with three different layouts: College ruled, dotted grid, and blank pages. I broke the sections into 25 pages each for the first three and then I added another 25 lined pages. I decided to have some dotted grid pages side by side with lined pages.

I received my journal last week and I have basically taken it nearly everywhere. Oh, man my journal has become my Linus blanky. LOL!

I have yet to write or draw in it. Eventually, I will. I think. Until then perhaps a few more journal selfies or something?!

I used blurb.com to print my journal and I am now currently working on a photo poetry book (essentially I decided to turn my Poetry and Petals project into a short book).
