S.A.P: Scribbles. Art. Poetry (An Etsy Shop Reboot)

I turned my craft into a side sap in 2017 or 2018. The exact year is a bit of a blur. It all began when I signed up for a table at the holiday bazaar my job hosts almost annually. The name came as a simple little word SAP and became the acronym for (S.A.P): Scribbles. Art. Poetry. because I wanted to combine two of my crafts, even though art is quite a broad term. I played with the word a bit. I liked a couple of the definitions especially the natural one. So of course my logo became a tree. The other definition that appealed to me was tunnel. I liked the idea of my craft beginning from one end of the tunnel to the finished product at the other end of the tunnel.

The following year I opened an Etsy shop called Scribbles. Art. Poetry. I continued to make sure I had a table at the holiday bazaar and the occasional Spring Craft show. I applied and was accepted to Maker Faire 2018-2019, when it used to be hosted at The Henry Ford. I had an end-cap at Townpeddler for about six months though it floundered. I enjoyed seeing my work on the walls of Plymouth Coffee Bean in February 2023.

It was definitely a side um….well, it was often not much of a hustle but it was an enjoyable venture. I’m still learning how to market my craft which is interesting when you are an introvert, lol.

Life as it is prone to doing, became busy and things changed so much since then. In all the changes I suddenly had some technical difficulties with my Etsy shop. Which prompted me to take an incredibly long break from it.

After much back and forth, I had no choice but to start my Etsy over (if I still wanted to sell my stuff.) I kept the SAP and added POETIQUETTES. I setup a new account using the ‘ol shop name Scribbles. Art. Poetry as a username and renamed the actual shop POETIQUETTES.

I am currently working on relaunching the shop. I am adding my back stock to my listings (so my opening inventory will be more than it was when my original shop opened,I had 10 items or less.) I am retooling other various items as well.

My little emporia will continue to have my original poems often accompanied by my art. However, there will be new canvases for them …

In the coming days I will “narrate” any important progress I am making on my blog. In the future, if I post an item to the portfolio section of my blog and it can also be found in my shop there will be a button at the bottom.

***For now the relaunch date is July 27, 2024.***
